Although thermal imaging cameras are becoming more intuitive, this should be no substitute for operator skill. It is still vitally important that those who use these smart cameras have a thorough understanding of the science and its application in order that they can accurately interpret the findings.
The Infrared Training Centre Category 1 course is a good place to start. It prepares the operator for qualification as a Category 1 certified thermographer. Students learn about the basics of infrared, how to operate the camera under different conditions and for various purposes. Most importantly they are guided on how to make judgements in the field and identify potential error sources.
Those who wish to take the corresponding British Institute of Non-Destructive Testing (BINDT) certification exam, to prove their Category 1 status, can do so on completion of the course; ITC is an authorised BINDT training organisation.
ITC has now confirmed it is now running this 4-day, Category 1 course at the following UK locations during 2017.
The cost of the basic course is 1410(+VAT) and a premium package is also available for 1635(+VAT) which includes 12 months' ITC online training, proceedings from the ITC Inframation Conference and a FLIR TG165 imaging thermometer. As well as these group courses, ITC also runs on-site courses to customer specification. For further information about the Infrared Training Centre visit www.irtraining.eu.
