At the Embedded World 2007, Kontron introduced a product that made the processing power of the Intel Core 2 Duo processor accessible on a 100 per cent pin-to-pin compatible ETX 3.0 module. Built around the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, the Kontron ETX-CD is the high-end COM for embedded designs requiring PCI, ISA, SATA and USB 2.0 as well as all standard ETX interfaces.
The new Kontron ETX-CD module integrates the low-voltage Intel Core 2 Duo processor L7400 (2x 1.5 GHz, 4MB L2 cache, TDP 17W) and the mobile Intel 945GM Express chipset. Key features of this new ETX 3.0 low-power consumption module include:
Kontron anticipates having sample Kontron ETX-CD modules with the new Intel Core 2 Duo processor available for evaluation in Q2 of 2007. Board support packages (BSPs) for current operating systems such as Windows XP Embedded and Linux will be available for download on Kontron's website in the near future.
Kontron is developing additional modules for high-performance processors from Intel, AMD and VIA that will further expand the array of offerings of Kontron ETX 3.0 modules. To learn more about Kontron ETX modules and the ETX 3.0 standard, please visit www.kontron.com.
