Kontron is announcing that the 6th generation Intel Core Processor will power new Kontron boards and modules to be released in early 2016. With these boards, Kontron's customers can take full advantage of Intel's latest and most powerful processor version, Skylake-H and U processors. Kontron is maximising its product portfolio with new long-life DDR4 SODIMM memory with up to 32 GB, which is also available as ECC memory.
Products featuring Intel 6th generation Intel Core Processor technology will include several models of Kontron COM Express Computer-on-Modules (COM) in the standard form factor, COMe Basic (based on Intel Skylake-H processor) as well as in COMe Compact (based on Intel Skylake-U processor). Samples for products based on Skylake-U will be available for customer test in November and samples for products based on Skylake-H in first quarter 2016. Additions to the Kontron motherboard range including Mini-ITX and Flex-ATX, as well as other form factors will follow.
Peter Mller, Senior Product Manager at Kontron, says: "Kontron's expertise is in designing and manufacturing integrated embedded hardware and software solutions which address performance-hungry, power-restricted applications such as in rugged and harsh industrial environments. We are therefore delighted to be specifying 6th generation Intel Core Processor technology in Kontron's on-going IoT-ready board and module solutions. Our initiative will ensure that customers can take early advantage of the significant features and benefits including increased memory, and faster graphics and processing performance."
