Using its IEF Werner linear motion product programme as a basis, RA Rodriguez is able to engineer linear motion systems that provide a range of characteristics - rigidity, high accuracy and precision, high load bearing and high speed. And now these qualities are also available to those designing and specifying systems for use in explosive atmospheres.
Individual components through to fully assembled single- and multi-axis positioning systems are now available from RA Rodriguez for use in Zone 2 and Zone 22 environments. This qualifies them for use in applications where there is danger of explosion under abnormal operating conditions caused by gas (Zone 2) or a cloud of combustible dust (Zone 22), and this covers a broad range of possible applications in the industrial market.
For this purpose RA Rodriguez takes elements from its standard IEF Werner product range and combines them with components such as planetary gears, servo motors and power chains that have appropriate certification. Typical application examples include the supply of an IEF Werner Module 105 for safe parts handling during a painting process. This commercial positioning system is suitable for use where space is at a premium, and for this task it was fitted with a special electric conducting toothed belt to prevent any danger from sparking.
A special IEF Werner Module 80/15 has also been specified for a diesel injection pump testing station. This linear product was designed to provide high dynamics and good running characteristics, and for this application it formed the basis of a system that also included appropriate certified planetary gears, servo motor with absolute encoder, servo amplifier and cable set.
In another special application, an IEF Werner two-axis positioning system transports components above a basin filled with inflammable liquid. Similarly it was equipped with ATEX-compliant driveline components. Control systems were also supplied for use outside the hazardous area.
