Machinery Directive Harmonised Standards, 23 March 2012
A list of Machinery Directive Harmonised Standards was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJ) on 23 March 2012. These Harmonised standards provide a presumption of conformity to the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. The list can be downloaded from the European Commission website (1.39MB PDF). This list of standards harmonised to the Machinery Directive supersedes all previous versions and has legal standing, unlike the lists published on the European Commission website that are only 'informative'. These changes are all new or updated type-C standards relating to specific classes of machinery. The information below has been extracted carefully from the official list, but it remains the reader's responsibility to check the OJ list.

New standards published in the list for the first time are as below.
- EN 474-4:2006+A2:2012 Earth-moving machinery - Safety - Part 4: Requirements for backhoe loaders, which supersedes EN 474-4:2006+A1:2009 on 31 July 2012
- EN 474-5:2006+A2:2012 Earth-moving machinery - Safety - Part 5: Requirements for hydraulic excavators, which supersedes EN 474-5:2006+A1:2009 on 31 July 2012
- EN 1459:1998+A3:2012 Safety of industrial trucks - Self-propelled variable reach trucks, which supersedes EN 1459:1998+A2:2010 on 1 February 2013
- EN 14985:2012 Cranes - Slewing jib cranes
Important note about EN ISO 10218-1
In the list of harmonised standards published on 23 March 2012 EN ISO 10218-1:2011, Robots and robotic devices - Safety requirements for industrial robots - Part 1: Robots, is shown with the date of cessation of the presumption of conformity of the superseded standard (EN ISO 10218-1:2008) being 31.1.2012. However, in the list published on 29 February 2012 the date was given as 1.1.2013. Marie Poidevin of CENELEC has confirmed to MachineBuilding.net that the date in the list of 23 March is incorrect; the correct date is as stated before, 1.1.2013.
