Machinery safety seminar to focus on standards
Schneider Electric is offering a one-day seminar to provide an overview of the suite of standards relevant to machinery safety, while examining the requirements of the new standards for functional safety for machines. By applying the right functional safety standard, Schneider Electric says that machine builders and end users can enjoy several benefits, including cost savings.
Key topics on the agenda are:
- Current Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and safety-related control system standards BS EN ISO 13849-1 and BS EN 62061
- Key considerations when modifying existing machines
- Review of relevant standards (BS EN 954-1, BS EN ISO 12100, BS EN ISO 14121, BS EN 60204-1 and others)
- Introduction to the application of BS EN ISO 13849-1 and BS EN 62061
- Sistema - a PL calculation tool will be supplied and training given in calculating and confirming Performance Levels
Seminar details
The event will take place at Schneider Electric's premises in Potters Bar from 09:30 to 16:30 on 15 September 2010. Each attendee will receive a seminar pack containing a Machinery Safety Guide, USB memory stick containing course material, Sistema software and Schneider Electric's reliability documentation.
Presenters will be Dave Collier (machinery safety product manager with Schneider Electric) and Peter Still (standards manager for Schneider Electric).
