HBM's new MX440A four-channel universal amplifier supports up to 15 different transducer types per channel. All four channels can all be individually configured and used for measuring a wide range of mechanical, thermal or electrical quantities such as force, displacement, torque, temperature, pressure, rotational speed, position, speed, acceleration, voltage or current.
The amplifier supports, for example, half- and full-bridge circuits (strain-gauge and inductive transducers), resistors, piezo-resistive transducers, potentiometers, voltage, current, thermocouples, LVDT, pulse counters and rotary encoders. Input channels are electrically isolated and each provides one 24-bit analogue-to-digital converter (ADC). Ethernet TCP/IP and automatic configuration allow for easy and fast connection to the PC.
HBM says the MX440A is suitable for a wide range of applications including automated testing of system components and the testing or long-term monitoring of tunnels.
The amplifier is designed to complement the QuantumX amplifier system and features outstanding versatility. Features include Advanced Plug and Measure (APM), enabling TEDS transducers and sensors to configure the channel automatically. This minimises set-up times in daily operation and increases efficiency and reliability.
In addition, the MX440A is supported by a comprehensive software package that ranges from the free QuantumX-Assistant through to libraries for integration into LabView or into programming environments such as Visual Studio .NET and the professional catmanAP software package.
