PAT becomes Hirschmann's Electronic Control Systems division

Hirschmann Industries, based in Neckartenzlingen near Stuttgart, Germany, has merged its subsidiary PAT GmbH, of Ettlingen, into Hirschmann Automation and Control GmbH of Neckartenzlingen, where the former PAT becomes the 'Electronic Control Systems' division. The date when this merger takes effect is backdated to 1 January, 2006. The product range of load moment indication systems will continue to be marketed under the brand names PAT, Kruger and Hirschmann. The Ettlingen site will also continue in existence.

Hirschmann says that the merger of the two companies will open numerous market opportunities. Reinhard Sitzmann, CEO of Hirschmann Industries, explains: "In addition to synergies in purchasing, production and administration, there are numerous areas of technology where we have a lot in common; for example, fieldbusses or connectors. The know-how which both companies possess can be used more efficiently than in the past thanks to shared structures and processes. We will benefit from this as much as our customers."

The three product divisions of Industrial Networking, Industrial Connectors und Electronic Control Systems will work together under the shared roof of Hirschmann Automation and Control. The company has a global workforce of around 800, with approximately 600 of these employed in Neckartenzlingen and Ettlingen.
