ABB is offering two free Bearing Compass housed bearing identification tools. By simply rotating one part of the printed card device relative to another, users can find ABB Dodge part numbers that are the equivalents to competitors' housed bearing part numbers, or select the required dimensions for the bearing mounting and read off the relevant part numbers.
There are two double-sided bearing Compass tools for four different types of housed bearings:
- Two-bolt pillow block housed ball bearing units and two-bolt pillow block ISN spherical roller bearings
- Two-bolt and four-bolt flanged housing ball bearing units
Tristin Hurst, ABB's bearing product manager, states: "It is important to have all the housing data and dimensions on-hand when replacing a bearing, as specifying an incorrect bearing can have a big impact on swap-out time and can quickly escalate machine downtime.
"Bearings installed in recycling, aggregates or mining equipment often need regular maintenance and can often fail as they operate in some of the harshest conditions. This is why we developed the Bearing Compasses to make the specification and ordering of replacement bearings a straightforward task."
On the pillow block Bearing Compass, users can identify ABB Dodge Setscrew ball bearing housings and, for heavier-duty applications, ABB Dodge ISN spherical roller bearings. The flanged housing Bearing Compass enables users to identify ABB Dodge two-bolt and four-bolt housed ball bearings with standard shaft-mount inserts. These are dimensionally identical to standard bearings and are directly interchangeable with most existing housed bearings.
