Nord Drivesystems has published a new brochure for its versatile SK 500E series frequency inverters that are available with a comprehensive choice of modular options and enhancements that can accommodate applications from simple speed control through to complex servo positioning. For example, the SK 530E version includes the built-in Posicon position controller, as well as specific parameters for lift and elevator control, and is particularly suited to lift upgrade and modernisation use. With high-quality sensorless current vector control (ISD), and now available in seven modular sizes up to 37kW motor power, the SK 530E also includes integrated motor brake management with a brake chopper for true S1 continuous duty and a range of matched braking resistors available for safe heavy load braking. Further features that suit lift industry applications include a high starting overload capacity of 200 per cent for 3.5 seconds, an integrated EMC filter that suits residential use, 16kHz switching frequency for silent motor operation, and a control card that can be supplied from an external 24V source to aid special functionality such as emergency elevator evacuation.
Through the SK 500E range, the cabinet-mounted frequency inverters boast an automatic flux optimisation feature that can reduce energy consumption by up to 30 per cent - and with the newly available Nord IE2-compliant motors, total energy efficiency is claimed to be at unprecedented levels for lift applications.
Further common range benefits include an integrated oscilloscope for optimised drive set-up, which is also made straightforward with a fully automatic motor identification feature that detects all motor parameters at standstill. The various options also include a complement of digital and analogue I/O for machine interfacing, as well as a wide choice of expansion modules for fieldbus interfacing.
