New long-reach robot launches at PPMA
High speed, volumes and duty cycles demand components and systems that are robust and reliable. For this reason the IEF Werner linear motion products supplied by R.A. Naturally this range will be a main focus for the company at PPMA 2012, and so too will be the flexible and cost-effective Universal Robot robotic arm, a new model of which will be introduced at the show.
Both Universal Robot arms are can be used where traditional robots are considered to be too large, too expensive, too noisy or not sufficiently flexible. Both are entry level automation devices that provide six axes of movement and operate from a standard 24V supply. No expert help is needed for set up as a graphical user interface guides the user through the process.
The new long-reach version has all the inherent qualities and user friendliness of its smaller counterpart but can handle double the payload - 10kg - and has a reach of 1300mm. It is much lighter than other robots in this class and, as it requires no dedicated base, can be moved around from task to task.
R.A. Rodriguez's IEF Werner linear motion programme provides a basis for a variety of applications in the processing and packaging sectors. All elements are designed to be freely combined, enabling single or multi-axis systems to be created simply and quickly. The modules are made from extruded aluminium section and, in addition to low weight, provide high dynamic speed, good torsional stiffness, low deflection, high load stability and repeatable positioning accuracy.
Complementary PA control systems are available in a range of options that provide a simple interface via integral keyboards, touch screens or direct PC connection. When combined with the IEF Werner winPAC software an easy and effective programming system is provided that allows specific performance characteristics, such as smooth acceleration and deceleration, to be achieved.
