New motor-mounted inverter for simple drive applications

Nord Drivesystems has launched its new SK 180E motor-mounted frequency inverters featuring proven ISD vector control; the SK 180E decentralised drives are even more cost-effective than the currently available larger SK 200E distributed inverters.

New motor-mounted inverter for simple drive applications

The SK 180E inverter focuses on the core requirements of speed control and efficiency, with the added benefits of two analogue inputs and integrated process and PI controller functions for autonomously controlling simple drive applications.

As well as being suitable for standalone variable-frequency drive tasks, the SK 180E can be used in applications requiring synchronised operation of multiple drives. A typical example of this would be distributed horizontal conveying applications requiring no positioning or encoder feedback, no special safety functions or braking resistors, and with motor power outputs from 0.25 to 2.2kW.

The SK 180E also contains all necessary functions for many fan and pump applications. Here, it can reduce energy consumption by up to 30 per cent by automatic magnetisation adjustment under partial load. Providing class C1 radio interference suppression and a discharge current below 16mA, the SK 180E can even be operated in residential and business buildings in nearly every country in the world. For use in mobile pumps, shredders, or mixers, variable-frequency drives are available complete with a conventional mains plug. The drives have typical overload reserves of 150 per cent for 60 seconds and briefly even up to 200 per cent.

All distributed drive electronics from Nord Drivesystems follow the same simple and versatile operation concept: they can be programmed directly, by means of parameter boxes, or using a computer with the free NORD CON software. Parameters can be quickly exported to other devices using the internal system bus or Ethernet interfaces.

Safety to SIL 3

In addition to the SK 180E and the SK 200E, which can also control diagonal and vertical conveying tasks with safety requirements up to SIL3, Nord Drivesystems' decentralised inverter drive portfolio also includes the very economic new motor-mounted SK 135E soft and reverse starter that can perform simple switching tasks in logistics and conveying.

Nord Drivesystems will showcase the new SK 180E inverters and other products at the Hannover Messe exhibition in Germany in Hall 15, on Stand F26.
