Phoenix Contact's new PLC logic programmable logic relay system is said to be particularly well suited to small automation tasks, combining the strengths of established relay technology with logic functions in a single package.
A modular design, featuring plug-in relays, enables flexible assembly, depending on the switching task. Pluggable switching elements ensure high machine and system availability thanks to fast replacement during servicing.
The system consists of logic modules, the PLC-Interface relay system and the Logic+ software. Each system is built by simply plugging the logic module into eight relay modules, which can be selected from the wide range available to suit the application requirements. A compact 50mm-wide logic module can process 16 input/output signals, and the base module can be expanded with up to two add-on modules for more complex applications, making it possible to process up to 48 input/output signals.
Programming is carried out using the highly intuitive drag-and-drop Logic+ software that is claimed to require no previous experience in this area. A plug-in memory module enables programs to be saved and/or copied to other devices.
