New power supplies operate reliably in extreme temperatures
Omron is launching the S8VK-G series compact industrial power supplies that have an exceptionally wide operating temperature range of -40 to +70degC, which guarantees stable operation even in tough environments where other power supplies may be found wanting. Omron's new S8VK-G power supplies also offer fast, easy installation with an enhanced click-on DIN-rail mounting clip, and they feature multiple output terminals - two positive and three negative - to simplify and speed-up wiring.
S8VK power supplies are typically 13 per cent smaller than other similarly rated units, so Omron says they are the most compact of their type currently available. Valuable panel space savings can easily be made. However, the small size of the units has been achieved without compromising performance or reliability; in addition to their wide operating temperature range, all models offer high resistance to shock and vibration, and they also have superior MTBF ratings.
The new units, which build on Omron's expertise as a leading manufacturer of industrial power supplies since 1987, are available in three families:
- Cost-effective S8VK-C Lite
- Standard S8VK-G Pro
- Top-of-the-range S8VK-R (redundancy unit) Pro Plus
Omron says the Lite family is an excellent choice for cost-sensitive applications that require a dependable high-quality power supply. Power supplies in this family have an operating temperature range of -20 to +60degC and a universal 100-240V 50/60Hz input capability. S8VK-C Lite power supplies are offered with power ratings from 60-480W.
For users requiring greater versatility, Omron recommends the standard S8VK-G Pro family. Designed as 'fit and forget' products, units in this family can be operated in parallel, and also offer longer lifetime, higher protection, an even wider operating temperature range of -40 to +70degC and a 120 per cent power-boost capability to cope with short-term current peaks. The S8VK-G Pro power supplies are suitable for operation with 100-240V single-phase 50/60Hz or 90-350V DC inputs and are available with power ratings from 15-480W.
S8VK-R Pro Plus products are redundancy units that have been designed to meet the most critical requirements, and allow fully redundant operation. Features include visual indicators for redundancy and current balance status, as well as a signalling output for supply status confirmation.
