HBM has improved the operational range of its T40 torque flange with two new nominal (rated) torques of 500Nm and 3kNm. Most torque measurement applications in test benches can now be easily covered when combined with the two existing flanges of nominal (rated) torques of 1kNm and 2kNm.
Designed with a short overall length, the torque flanges simplify integration into test benches. In addition, the flanges are relatively insensitive to parasitic loads, which enables machine elements to be mounted directly without needing additional universal joints, shafts or couplings.
The T40 is designed for rugged operation and is maintenance- and wear-free, as it has no slip rings or bearings. It is therefore reliable, while helping to reduce test bench downtime. The use of digital data transfer between the rotor and stator ensures reliable, error-free data acquisition and transmission without problems even under difficult ambient conditions - for example, in the event of electromagnetic interference or temperature variation. The measured torque is output either via a voltage or frequency output.
Typical applications for the torque flange are in the automotive industry on motor, transmission or chassis test benches. The T40 can also be used for testing electric motors, pumps and generators.
