Following the introduction of the blue tribo-tape last year made of the food-compliant iglidur A160 material, complex technical polymer expert René Achnitz at igus introduces a few new developments to its range. Typical applications for this material are as a versatile lining of potential wearing surfaces and forms, materials handling and machine tool sliding beds.
The first is the iglidur V400 tribo-tape; it was developed specifically for high-temperature applications. The new wear-resistant tribo-tape can withstand upper long-term application temperatures of +200degC as well as negative effects from chemicals, water, dust and debris.
Where the igus tribo-tape is a visible part within a system, the new black option offers even more design freedom. Made of iglidur B160, this black material provides a higher wear resistance compared to its blue A160 relative.
All materials are self-lubricating and maintenance free, available with or without a self-adhesive back. Reels of tribo-tape are offered in two standard widths 100/120mm but can easily be ordered in any widths up to and including 500mm; standard thickness is 0.5mm, the 500mm width is 1mm thick.
Custom die-cut parts are also available - whether as a specially tailored by-the-metre product or freely designed prefabricated parts, from one-offs to high-volumes, igus will produce custom parts according to the supplied dxf file.
