New update to Pilz Machinery Safety Training Programme
Pilz Automation Technology has redesigned its Using PAScal Safety Calculator Software course to take account of the new PAScal version 1.7.0 that supports the VDMA 66413 library format for the first time. The next PAScal Software course takes place on Thursday 3 June 2014, with others planned for later in the year.
Earlier in 2014 Pilz Automation Technology revised its Machinery Safety Training Programme, which now includes training courses covering the following topics: EN ISO 13849-1; PUWER; Packaging Machinery; and Robot Safety. These courses are in addition to the City & Guilds Machinery Safety Course and an internationally recognised qualification - TV CMSE Certified Machinery Safety Expert.
Employees with responsibility for machinery safety - often multi-tasking - are increasingly expected not only to have, but also to prove, competence. The Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and the Use of Work Equipment Directive 2009/104/EC both state that validation tests should be carried out with the highest degree of professional integrity and technical competence. Competence is a requirement of every engineer assessing a plant or machine or providing a service.
By way of training and/or experience, a competent person is knowledgeable in applicable standards, is capable of identifying workplace hazards relating to the specific operation, and has the authority to correct them. Competence includes an awareness of one's limitations.
