A new list of Machinery Directive Harmonised Standards was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJ) on 13 February 2015. As with previous lists, I have analysed and summarised the changes so you can see at a glance whether there are any implications for the machines you build.

This time there has only been one change to the B-Type standards, namely a new edition of EN ISO 11200:2014 (Acoustics - Noise emitted by machinery and equipment - Guidelines for the use of basic standards for the determination of emission sound pressure levels at a work station and at other specified positions). All other changes are amendments, new editions or completely new C-Type standards relating to particular classes of machinery. Follow the link to see the changes to the Machinery Directive Harmonised Standards.

Just as we were going to press we received an announcement from Control Techniques about high-frequency drives and the EU Dual Use Regulation. I would urge European machine builders to have a look at this because there is a significant risk they could be inadvertently breaking the law. The article is here: High-frequency drive users: are you breaking the law?
