are not already aware of it, there is currently a
consultation on changes to the Machinery Directive. The
European Commission has already received feedback on its
proposals, which can be read online, but now is your
chance to comment. Contributions to the consultation
will be accepted up until midnight on 30 August. Follow

Second, the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) is
changing the way it performs some of its functions.
Previously the Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL)
offered training, consultancy, validation and similar
services, but now these non-statutory services are being
provided under the HSE umbrella brand as Solutions
