One-day training course for BS EN 62061 and BS EN ISO 13849-1
With EN 954-1 finally being withdrawn at the end of 2011, machine builders and users have to be aware of the standards that will replace it. BS EN 62061 and BS EN ISO 13849-1 are the standards that will fill the gap left by EN 954-1 and both of these use the concept of functional safety to determine the required safety circuit architecture.
Laidler Associates has developed a new one-day Functional Safety Awareness training course, with the first taking place on 7 December 2011. The aim of this course is to equip machine builders, system integrators and end users with information relating to the scope and main design requirements of the current standards for the machinery sector, and to give an appreciation of how to apply their principles.
The course is aimed at managers, technicians and design engineers who have responsibilities for machinery safety-related control systems. By the end of the course delegates will have:
- Gained an awareness of the key parts of the standards (BS EN 62061 and EN ISO 13849-1) including SIL Determination, Performance Levels, Diagnostic Coverage and Common Cause Failures for safety circuit designs.
- Gained an understanding of the differences between BS EN 62061 and EN ISO 13849-1 and the concepts on which the functional safety standards are based.
- Gained an awareness of the architectures of Safety Related Controls and how these architectures relate to practical applications.
- Gained an appreciation of the importance of component performance and reliability, and how the necessary data can be derived from readily available information.
The course costs just 100.00 and will be held at the TUV SUD Product Service offices in Fareham. Dates for further courses during 2012 will be announced shortly, with venues to be around the UK.
