All-in-one temperature transmitter with displayJust launched by ifm electronic is the TD series, adding to their temperature sensor range, designed to make a food process plant operator’s life easier. The new TD series is an all-in-one unit with integrated electronics, process connector, and probe. This ‘one part number’ approach simplifies the ordering processes for the customer. On delivery the TD series offers a simplified installation process at the customer application, being ready to install, no assembly required.

The TD series also comes ready to use, with no programming required – although this is made possible, by the inclusion of IO-Link. On delivery, the TD is scaled for 0–100degC (unless the 0…300degF version is ordered), and the IO-Link facility allows the user to take advantage of the full -40 to 150degC range. The new TD series is a fully hygienic instrument with ifm “look & feel”, and M12 connector, and housing in full 316 stainless steel, with an IP69K seal.

With its small, one-piece housing and added value of a local display at the price point of a blind unit, ifm’s TD series is believed to be unique under the hygienic temperature transmitters. It features integrated 4 segment, LED display, IO-Link, factory pre-setting combined with a fast response time (T05= 1s, T09=3 s).

The connection options present further advantages of the TD series; it can be wired as a three-wire or as a two-wire loop-powered device. Using the IO-Link facility would require a four-core connection in order to access all the possibilities that IO-Link offers.

Available process connections cover Tri-Clamp (1.5” and 2”) as well as a G1/2” hygienic conical fitting, with more to follow. The probe length options include so far five lengths of 30, 50, 100, 150, and 250mm. The TD series will operate in an ambient temperature between -25 and plus 70degC, and withstand a pressure range of -1 to 160bar. As the units are pre-scaled and configured there is no need for pushbuttons, making it easy to seal the housing to IP69K.

All relevant standards are complied with, including EHEDG certification, 3A Sanitary Standard and CE and cULus listing. All parts are manufactured from FDA-approved materials.
