PCB-mount AC-DC power supplies are ultra-compact
Lambda's latest generation of KPS PCB-mountable AC-DC power supplies, the KPSA series, is even smaller. These diminutive, lightweight AC-DC supplies will therefore be attractive to designers working in fields as diverse as factory automation, telecom and datacom, printers, motor drives and instrumentation.
Three models are available: the KPSA-5, KPSA-10 and KPSA-15, offering 5, 10 and 15W power levels, respectively. Each is available in a variety of standard output voltages from 3.3V to 24V DC with intermediate voltages available on request.
The input range for the KPSA Series is 85-264V AC, 47-63Hz or 100-370V DC. The KPSA supplies are rated for operation in a convection-cooled environment from 0-70degC, with appropriate derating.
At 28g and with a package size of 55 x 33 x 21mm for the 5W unit, ranging to just 48g and 70 x 45 x 20mm for the 15W unit, the KPSA supplies require less board space, yet are pin-compatible with their earlier counterparts. Designers will be pleased to know that no external components are needed for these supplies. Additional features include built-in short-circuit protection (hiccup mode) and over-voltage protection.
The KPSA series meets EN 61000-4 immunity and Class B EMI standards, plus they are safety approved to UL60950-1, CSA60950-1, and EN 60950-1. The units are CE marked and RoHS compliant.
