Already describing itself as 'Number-One in the UK,' Pryor Marking Technology says it intends to bring down prices and increase the volume of international sales to both high-end customers with turnkey, complex equipment, and its standard product range. As part of this strategy, Pryor has appointed Laurent Boucher as its new director of group sales and marketing. He leads a team that is currently recruiting more highly skilled sales engineers with expertise in markets such as aerospace, automotive, industrial metal alloy components and medical.
Boucher is convinced that Pryor's products will do the talking: "People see the quality, then contact us to find the most suitable solution. We are a unique one-stop shop for industrial traceability, as a manufacturer of not only permanent marking machines but also Data Matrix readers and verifiers. With the development of six separate marking technologies, an incredible hardware and software design office, excellent service and technical back-up, we can now increase our growth worldwide."
Pryor is also seeking more distributors to boost its international network, with improved marketing support and good pricing structures. The distributors are supported by four Centres of Expertise in the UK, North America, France and India, where a custom-built factory has also been established. Boucher comments: "We want to get closer to our big customers and this means being local."
Well-known to the marking industry, Boucher has extensive experience in international business development, sales and marketing, and subsidiary management. His appointment is a pivotal step for Pryor, an established Sheffield firm that acquired subsidiary Absolute Vision Ltd in 2003 in order to offer both marking and code-reading technologies under one roof.
