Schaeffler introduces linear actuators for new application areas

Notable features of the new MKUVE 20-KGT actuators include compact dimensions, inherently high stiffness for the support rail, high load- and moment-carrying capacity, and high axial load capacity, rigidity and dynamics for the rolled ball screw drive system. Despite these characteristics, the actuators boast a low moving mass and long operating life, with minimal maintenance requirements. Protective bellows shield the integral ball screw and KUVE20-S W2 guidance system with twin carriages. These two carriages are mounted on a aluminium alloy carriage housing with optimised geometry. On top of the carriage housing is the saddle plate with T slots and a lubrication nipple. From this single lubrication point, lubricant is ducted to the carriages and ball screw spindle nuts.

Customers have a choice of ball screw spindle pitches and either flanged nut or preloaded double nut. Spindle supports help to optimise the actuators' performance.

Heavy duty

For heavier applications, the MDKUSE 35-3ZR actuators are modular units that benefit from the following:

• Very high inherent rigidity of support rail
• Very high load- and moment-carrying capacity of the guideway
• High axial load-carrying capacity, rigidity and system dynamics
• Numerous mounting options for the carriage
• Long operating life and low maintenance requirements

A further step up from these units are the tandem MDKUSE 35-3ZR actuators that have a triple toothed belt drive, twin KUSE35-HL W2.. six-row linear ball bearing guidance systems on 260mm centres and, therefore, a total of four preloaded carriages to share the load. Mounted on these four carriages is an aluminium plate onto which equipment or other actuators can be mounted directly.

If required, Schaeffler can also supply complete drive systems (motion controller, servo drive, brushless servo motor, cabling, etc) to complement the actuators.
