Schützinger Kelvin Four-Wire Measurement connectors at JPR

JPR Electronics is announcing the availability of the Schtzinger GmbH Kelvin range of simple-to-use and space-saving Four-Wire Measurement connectors.

Schtzinger Kelvin Four-Wire Measurement connectors enables engineers to measure current and voltage through two opposing measurement channels removing any effects on the measured result due to transition resistance of the measuring leads and any thermovoltages.

The Schtzinger Kelvin system enables low resistances measured with a small test current to be easily and accurately determined. Four sockets on the measuring tool and four plugs on the measuring leads are provided to make the 4-wire measurement.

Due to the coaxial arrangement of plug contacts the Schtzinger Kelvin Plug System requires minimal space in the measuring tool housing enabling a simple set up of the measuring leads. As the Kelvin system is compatible with standard 4mm safety plugs other measuring tasks can be easily be carried out using just two sockets.

Kelvin measurements often have to be made using unterminated, bare wire ends For measurements to be made from test objects with unterminated wires JPR can supply Schtzinger Kelvin quick-release terminals. Quick-release terminals are suitable for situations where a lead or cable needs to be connected to an instrument safely and quickly. This is especially useful for inspection during production because it can be installed permanently and used to clamp a lead between two poles. A specially designed clamp holds the lead in place to ensure the contact is secure and shock-proof. Even the finest wires are securely held by a built-in ratcheted plate. Releasing the lead is as quick as pressing the button that opens the circuit. The terminal can be supplied colour coded black and red for four-wire measurement

JPR can also supply the Kelvin-Adapterbox. Initially designed for demonstrating the different types of connections on accessories for Kelvin measurement, the box is increasingly used as an adaptor for connecting specific test accessories to sensing systems made by different manufacturers. The Kelvin-Adapterbox allows connections from four individual standard 4mm plugs to two standard BNC sockets on an instrument or two bare wires to a multimeter by using on-board Kelvin quick-release terminals.

In addition, two 4mm Kelvin safety sockets are installed on the box's short side; the corresponding 4mm Kelvin safety lamella-basket plug, including accessories, is also available from JPR. The commonly used connector comprising four individual safety sockets can be found on the long side of the box. Putting the two types of connector side by side clearly demonstrates the key advantages of the 4mm Kelvin safety sockets: they occupy half as much space because of the coaxial arrangement on their plug contacts, and help save time because users only have to connect two plugs instead of four.

A circuit diagram printed on the housing shows how the different interfaces are connected to each other so that they can be used in pairs for 4-wire measurement.

Paul Raynor, Director of JPR Electronics, comments: "The Schtzinger Kelvin test connector range provides designers, test engineers, production test and research laboratories with an error free measurement system."
