Sick deTec2 Core type 2 light curtain is easy to install
Sick says its new deTec2 Core type 2 light curtain delivers enhanced standards in performance efficiency, installation ease and reliability for PL c and SIL 1 applications for machine tool protection and similar machinery safety applications.
Dr Martin Kidman, Sick (UK) Safety Specialist, says: "As well as its new innovative bracket system and being able to operate down to -30 degrees C, the deTec2 Core has no blind zones. It is extremely easy and quick to set up and commission, without a PC, so the operator gets rapid protection against unsafe access whilst enabling ongoing efficient operation. For machine builders and systems integrators, the deTec2 Core is simple to include in the safety system design."
The Sick deTec2 Core offers protective field heights in increments from 300mm to 2100mm and a choice of finger and hand (14mm) or hand and person (30mm) resolution, providing protection against operator intervention in accordance with EN ISO 13855 up to 10m. In addition, it complies with performance level 'c' (EN ISO 13849), Type 2 (IEC 61496) and SIL 1 (IEC 61508).
Automatic configuration and range adjustment
As the deTec2 Core sensor works only in protective mode, configuration and range adjustment is automatic, requiring no additional set-up; diagnostic codes are simple and additional functions can be set up via safety relays, or the Sick Flexi Classic or Flexi Soft safety controllers.
A combination of the innovative mounting bracket configuration, semi-circular contours and alignment LEDs facilitate the alignment process, meaning the Sick deTec2 Core can be installed quickly and easily in seconds. Through the space-saving design of the Sick deTec2, safety distances can be minimised to achieve best-possible machine integration as well as higher operator productivity.
The Sick deTec2 Core benefits from a rugged IP67 enclosure and an operating temperature range from -30 to +55degC, guaranteeing operation in harsh conditions and a variety of demanding industrial environments, including low-temperature environments.
The Sick deTec2 Core complements the deTec4 Core that is designed for Type 4, SIL 3 / PL 'e' safety applications.
