Simatic PCS 7 and WinCC gain power management functions

Siemens Industry Automation has added power management to the range of functions available on its Simatic PCS 7 control system and Simatic WinCC visualisation system for the production and process industries. The power management add-ons, called Simatic PCS 7 powerrate and Simatic WinCC powerrate, provide a uniform power management system for all branches of industry. Users are therefore able to identify potential savings, draw conclusions regarding the power behaviour of different operating units and obtain information on the status of the plant and the degree of utilisation.

The individual functions - such as measured value acquisition and processing, cost centre management, and load management - are implemented by means of ready-made S7 modules, faceplates and Excel macros. Operators can therefore use a familiar system environment for comprehensive data management and visualisation. The power management add-ons obtain the power values from switching, protection and measuring devices such as the Sentron PAC3200 multifunctional measuring instrument, which precisely measures the characteristic values and power values of loads in industrial and purpose-built buildings.
