Spelsberg slashes lead times on custom orders

As part of its ongoing commitment to improving customer service and reducing lead times for all orders, Spelsberg UK has invested in a new CNC production cell at its headquarters in Telford. As demand for customised enclosures continues to grow, the latest addition will help the team to continue to deliver customisation options on over 4000 standard products with excellent lead times.

Spelsberg has invested in a second Datron MV1500 CNC machine (its fourth CNC machine overall) to help keep lead times down on high-volume orders. Thanks to an interchangeable bed fixture, designed in-house by Spelsberg UK, the two Datron machines will be able to be quickly set up to run the same machine job. This will effectively halve delivery times on jobs with large production runs.

Chris Lloyd, Spelberg UK Managing Director, comments: "Our ability to offer our customers complete customisation, delivered in-house and on short lead times, is what sets us apart from the majority of suppliers in the UK. In today's market everyone is looking for a competitive advantage, for our customers it's knowing that they can specify a completely bespoke solution and often start taking delivery in a matter of days rather than weeks.

"We will continue to make investments in our services, to make sure that we can grow with our customers and continue to offer them the same level of service and support as their needs evolve."

Spelsberg's customisation abilities include any combination of circular holes, hinge fixing points, push button holes, rectangles, countersunk holes and threaded holes on any external surface. The customisation ensures that any size and shape of cut out and cable gland requirements can be easily accommodated without the need to employ an enclosure that is otherwise unsuitable for the application. With its fleet of in-house CNC machines it has the capability to quickly produce one of many thousands of bespoke enclosures.

Once a design has been machined the template is saved on Spelsberg's system and the customer is given a unique reference code for quick and simple re-ordering. For more information of Spelsberg's customisation capabilities, or advice on the right products for your application, contact a member of the Spelsberg sales team or go to www.spelsberg.co.uk.
