Thermoelectric enclosure cooler gains heating function
Rittal is adding a heating function to its thermoelectric cooling unit that was originally launched in 2009; with a 100W cooling capacity and a weight of just 3kg, it is claimed to be the lightest and most efficient thermoelectric cooling unit available. As it does not use any refrigerant or compressors, it provides an excellent low-vibration, low-maintenance, compact means of cooling while maintaining air separation for harsh environments. It is, therefore, often specified for human-machine interface panels and small enclosures.
With the new heating function and controls that enable the device to switch automatically between heating and cooling, the thermoelectric units can maintain precise temperature conditions of +/-1K if required.
An intuitive software tool is included with each unit, together with a USB lead, so users can set and monitor various parameters from a laptop or PC.
Rittal's cooling/heating unit has an optional supply of 24V DC or 100-240V AC 50/60Hz, and an operating temperature range of -20 to +55degC (+60degC when running on a DC supply).
