R. A. Rodriguez is introducing the third generation of Universal Robot, a low-cost, six-axis robot that is said to provide simple plug-and-play productivity by automating tasks in manufacturing environments that would otherwise be performed manually.
The third generation of this economical and versatile robot introduces additional programming capability and a new teach pendant that is lighter. According to RA Rodriguez, the new software features collectively enhance the robot's ability to be tailored to the needs of the application through simple, menu-driven steps.
In addition, the controller incorporates a faster processor and a new design of touchscreen display; and the pendant controller weighs 50 per cent less than the previous unit for easier handling during programming.
The third-generation Universal Robot also benefits from enhanced process reliability features such as faster brake release after an emergency stop and a protected PC power supply.
