Visit Aerotech's stand at Southern Manufacturing

Aerotech will be on stand R13 at Southern Manufacturing. Visitors will be able to see a selection of positioning mechanics and advanced motion controls that demonstrate the company's capability for the design and manufacture of the motion components and the engineered motion subsystems that industry and research requires for demanding high-precision automation. With an emphasis on increased production throughput with improved accuracy and reliability, Aerotech will be highlighting the advanced automation controls that help its customers to enhance their system performance with advanced controls that reduce move and settle times and eliminate the adverse effects of unwanted machine harmonic disturbances. There will be a live demonstration that shows the dramatic difference the 'command shaping' algorithm has in reducing the natural vibrations excited in items that are moved.

Visitors can also see the new MotionPAC Integrated Motion and Machine Controller, as well as a fully working demonstration of the A3200Nmark SSaM (Synchronized Scanner and Motion).

Aerotech's new A3200 MotionPAC brings together sophisticated machine control and advanced multi-axis motion control in a single development environment that can include IEC 61131-3, PLCopen, .NET, AeroBasic, G-code and many other programming languages. With easy-to-use diagnostics, debugging and I/O mapping tools, plus automatic memory management and offline program simulation, MotionPAC also allows common tags and variables to be used across languages with its Global Tag Database; for advanced motion and automation systems these features combine for greatly simplified commissioning and reduce machine development timescales by as much as 30 per cent to 50 per cent.

The A3200Nmark SSaM synchronises a galvo scanner with multi-axis servo motion in a single programming environment for laser marking and engraving parts or producing large graphics without stitching multiple scans together. Limited only by the size of the positioning mechanics (which can be produced in metres of travel), the SSaM effectively expands the scanner's field of view without sacrificing its pixel resolution. The system supports the industry-standard XY2-100 scanner interface that is available from multiple vendors and includes a full laser control interface with YAG and CO2 operating modes.

Aerotech will also demonstrate its new MPS series miniature linear positioning stages that are just 50 or 75mm wide and available in travel ranges from 25mm to 100mm. Aimed at applications in university laboratories or research and development centres that require precision alignment, or for assembly, test and measurement in industrial production environments, the small footprint and low-profile stage design is optimised in the use of the latest generation of miniature 1mm pitch precision ball screws, with high-resolution encoders and anti-creep crossed-roller bearings for ultra-smooth velocity and reduced error motion.
