Advantech's Industrial Automation Group (IAG) is launching the PPC-4150W widescreen panel PC that is designed as a versatile device for machine building and factory automation applications. This 15.6inch widescreen panel PC with energy-efficient Intel Atom D2250 has a projected capacitive touch (PCT) screen, a large number of IO ports and multiple expansion slots for increased functionality.
Advantech's fanless panel PCs are designed to be noise-free and have low power consumption. To further aid usage, the fanless wide screen product line features a screen with a ratio of 16:9, providing 40 per cent more screen area than 4:3 displays. This design also supports multi-touch for more intuitive operation and to enhance flexibility for software designers, as well as providing for better safety control.
The PPC-4150W is a new-generation Panel PC with 15.6inch screen and projected capacitive multi-finger touch screen. With an entirely flat touch screen it is easy and convenient to clean and use. Equipped with an Intel Atom processor D2550, the fanless design become practical and makes the PPC-4150W more reliable in harsh environments. In addition, the dual GbE LAN, five USB ports (one of which is on the side for easy access), and GPIO connector make it easier to connect to devices and be integrated into machines. There are also four RS-232/422/485 serial ports that can be configured directly from the BIOS, thereby ensuring that engineers do not have to open the unit to make changes.
Advantech's new PPC-4150W features a choice between a standard PCI, PCIex1 or a mini-PCIe expansion slot that can be used to connect clients' existing hardware. It comes with an IP65 aluminium die-cast front panel housing a TFT LCD PCT screen with anti-scratch glass display, which is said to offer better protection than traditional resistive touch panels.
The new design of the PPC models provides two pale blue soft-keys with Advantech's software installed: a Home Key, which can be held for three seconds to lock/unlock the display so it can be cleaned without affecting operation; and the i Key, which is available to adjust the backlight, show system information and screen capture. Furthermore, these two keys are customisable to meet the needs of clients and software developers.
A further benefit of the compact PPC-4150W is that it is suitable for either mounting on a panel or with a VESA mount for ease of installation in machines or factory automation environments; Advantech also offers a complete range of accessories. To further aid temporary panel mounting, the PPC-4150W can be clipped into place by just one person.
