Wyko to hold celebratory Open Day

Wyko is celebrating 85 years of electro-mechanical repairs at Chesterfield with an open day for existing customers, new customers and local businesses. The theme of the open day is one of success for local industry, taking into account a history that gives the company an enviable level of knowledge and experience, mixed with the growth in facilities, services and products the company now offers.

Steve Ireland, the Wyko Branch Manager, comments: "We are proud of the engineering skills we have kept in this area and really wanted an opportunity to make local businesses aware of what we do and what we can now offer. This includes improving energy efficiency by repairing motors and other equipment to a very high standard and working with industry using our 'know-how' to solve problems and help make industry more efficient and competitive.'

With 40 engineers and over 50 staff in total, Wyko Chesterfield is a local success story for industry, which has been under pressure in recent years. Specialising in motor rewinds, gearbox rebuilds and transformer repairs, Wyko also handles a vast range of other related electro-mechanical repairs. In a local-spirited gesture, the neighbouring land owner, who has provided the space for a large marquee to be erected for the open day, has insisted that instead of paying for the site rental, a cheque for £500 be presented to the local McMillan Nurses, something that Wyko hasbeen more than glad to do.

Recalling some of the more unusual jobs Wyko Chesterfield has completed, Steve Ireland states: "We repair and maintain a huge variety of equipment, but have just recently finished a contract to completely strip and rebuild a series of 20MW turbo rotor electric motors that weighed in at nearly 30 tonnes each. We do a lot of work for companies such as Corus, producing steel, EWF with rail stock, and several power stations."

Wyko Chesterfield now provides expert repairs on motors, pumps, gearboxes, and various other items of mechanical end electrical power transmission equipment.

The Wyko group is described as the UK's leading supplier of industrial replacement components, maintenance equipment and services.

The Open day is being held for one day only, 12th October 2006, from 10am to 4pm; drinks and snacks are being provided. Visitors will see a range of services available from the Wyko Group, with exhibition stands from internal Wyko product specialists and some of the group's key partner suppliers.
