2006/42/EC - guidance on Machinery Directive, new edition

MachineBuilding.net has published the fifth edition of its free Guide to the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. [Note that the Sixth edition of the Guide to the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC has now been published - Ed]. The fifth edition takes into account the latest advice contained in the 2nd Guide to Application of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, which was published by the European Commission in June 2010 and included, for the first time, commentary on Annexes III to XI of the Directive.

In addition, the 5th edition of the MachineBuilding.net Guide contains new material relating to assemblies of machinery (also known as integrated manufacturing systems) and an updated section listing sources of Further information.

The Guide to the New Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC has proven to be extremely popular, with almost 6000 copies distributed worldwide. It is written - in plain English - for machine builders, system integrators, manufacturers of partly-completed machines and safety components (as defined in the Directive), people modifying machinery, and machine specifiers and buyers.

Whereas the first edition of the Guide to the New Machinery Directive ran to 20 pages, this latest issue contains 36 pages. Nevertheless, this is still far easier to navigate than the 400+ pages of the official guidance.
