2m cable extension transducer is sealed to IP50 or IP67
Variohm EuroSensor, Celesco's exclusive UK distributor, is now supplying the Celesco SG1 series cable extension transducer that builds on the design characteristics of the successful SP and SM series short-range 'stringpot' (or 'draw wire') sensors by offering a longer 2m measurement range in a compact 75mm x 75mm x 50mm polycarbonate housing with optional IP67 protection. Competitively priced, the SG1 will suit end users requiring fast off-the-shelf delivery, and OEMs needing larger quantities will benefit from its easily adapted design for customisation of mounting hardware, measurement range and electrical connection.
The SG1 provides absolute linear position measurement over a 2m full stroke range with a voltage divider output from a 10kohm plastic-hybrid potentiometer and a recommended 30V DC supply. Aimed at demanding measurement applications from hydraulic cylinder positioning to structural testing and medical equipment position feedback, this sensor has an accuracy of 0.35 per cent and repeatability to 0.05 per cent of full scale. The rugged polycarbonate body houses a precision high-cycle plastic hybrid potentiometer in a spring-loaded cable drum arrangement with a stainless steel measuring cable in a 'free-release' tolerant design that helps guard against damage if the cable is accidentally released.
A choice of three electrical interfacing options covers use for normal and more extreme environments. Direct connection to the potentiometer solder terminals provides for IP50 protection; IP67-rated options for a 1m strain relief cable and an M12 connector option with O-ring seal for wet-environment protection - supplied with a mating cable if required.
As with all Celesco cable-extension transducers, no critical installation alignment is required and mounting arrangement are extremely versatile. The SG1 has three clearance holes in its housing and it is also supplied with a steel mounting bracket that offers four 90-degree opposed mounting orientations as well as front- and back-face fixings.
A 4-20mA output version is also available. The SGD is supplied with an M12 connector and is protected to IP67.
