AC synchronous geared motors supplied for peristaltic pumps

Van Erp International bv, a Dutch designer and manufacturer of water treatment products for commercial and consumer swimming pools, spas and jacuzzis, is known globally for its innovative Blue Lagoon range of environmentally-friendly ultraviolet (UV) water disinfection systems. Drastically reducing the use of chlorine and other chemicals, the range renders a lethal effect on water-borne micro-organisms using a 'superior and safer disinfection compound' in combination with special UV-C wavelength lamps that Van Erp International helped to develop with Philips. For precise dosing control, the Blue Lagoon range also includes digital programmable peristaltic dosing pumps and filtration pump systems that are driven by Rotalink's AC synchronous geared motors.

Van Erp International and Rotalink worked closely on the modular dosing control module for the Blue Lagoon range that is used across several products in single or multiple use. The design brief included compactness, performance, reliability, fast time to market and low cost. To ensure the pump system was highly reliable and efficient, a number of AC synchronous motor and ovoid gearbox combinations were thoroughly tested at Rotalink's in-house design, production and test facilities. This concurrent product development process involved simulated pumping trials with various dosing pumps supplied by Van Erp International, thereby helping to reduce the company's own development burden and shortening development timescales. During this phase Rotalink was also able to offer specific design advice to Van Erp International's engineers, improving the overall pump performance and MTBF rating while optimising costs.

Rotalink is also working closely with Van Erp International on other projects, including motorised valve mechanisms for diverting pool and spa water for filtration and filter cleaning processes.
