Air duct system boosts cabinet cooling with TopTherm-Plus

Rittal is introducing an air duct system for use with its TopTherm-Plus roof-mounted cooling units to ensure proper routing of the chilled air within the enclosure. Using the duct system, cold air can be delivered directly to specific areas of the enclosure - and not at the exhaust from hot components. Using the air duct system can also reduce the risk of'"short circuits' in the air supply that can reduce cooling unit efficiency.

Note that cold airflow should not be directed straight at active components; ideally the air should be routed directly downwards without additional bends, as additional deflections will reduce cooling capacity. Cover stoppers should be used to seal outlets that are not required, but at least two outlet openings must remain open. Cold air must be able to escape unobstructed at the end of the duct and the air duct system should not be extended.
