Made of stainless steel to cope with the tough conditions in the timber industry, the Knox is a new, robust and strong safety and process lock that guarantees no-one can gain access to hazardous machinery parts until the machinery has completely stopped. The handle operates like a normal door handle but contains a combined resetting and locking function, which means that it does not require a separate reset button or additional safety switch.
Developed by Jokab Safety, the Knox safety lock fulfils the highest safety category for locks. The lock has three different states: open, locked and reset. When the lock is in its open or locked states it acts like a normal door lock; but if the handle is raised it enters the reset state and the machine can be started. While the machine is running the door cannot be opened without a positive unlocking signal. During, for example, running down, it is not possible to move the handle down until the machine is at a complete standstill. Naturally, for safety reasons, it is always possible to open the door from the inside, using the emergency opening handle.
As a complete system, the Knox does not require a separate button for resetting or a safety switch with associated fittings. Its design and durability make it suitable for severe environments, since the sensors in the lock are of a non-contact type and the lock is made of stainless steel.
