Aluminium Profile system helps users meet safety requirements

Bosch Rexroth's modular Aluminium Profile system (MGE) has been designed to help operators and equipment manufacturers to design assembly lines that meet exacting safety requirements and critical tolerances. With the Rexroth online design tool MTPro, safety calculations are easily available to hand.

Aluminium Profile system helps users meet safety requirements

Offering complete flexibility when designing an assembly line, the Assembly Technology product range is the world's largest aluminium profile building system. The robust aluminium framing system helps users to design complete assembly systems to meet specific needs - from ergonomic work tables, flow racks to protective frameworks and fences - all of which is suitable for use in any factory environment.

As factories evolve to meet changing demands within the market, including stringent safety regulations and a focus on Zero Harm, it is crucial that the infrastructure of each facility evolves too. With figures from the Health and Safety Executive suggesting that 555,000 injuries occurred at work in 2017/18, at a cost of 5.2 billion to the UK economy, safety is paramount.

Using assembly technology from Rexroth, effective ergonomic systems can be achieved to support employees to work safely and comfortably, minimising the likelihood of workplace accidents at the same time as streamlining processes to achieve greater efficiency. Combining strength and flexibility, the range includes over 100 aluminium extrusions alongside over 1000 types of joints and connections.

As well as corresponding to CE markings and standards, components undergo extensive testing and are supplied with detailed technical data - including data on maximum load per level, rack and track - which ensures that they meet the required safety, quality and sustainability requirements.

Intuitive software enables safe, efficient configuration

To make the most of these benefits, Rexroth customers have access to an intuitive layout design software and configuration tool. With MTpro, the most effective option can be realised for a particular environment, taking into account its size and usable space. The MTpro configuration tool supports users in the design of safe and efficient equipment without the need for CAD software. By including calculation programs for reducing bending and improving structural rigidity, the software ensures that the assembly systems are fit for purpose, work within the available footprint and have been verified as having the strength to withstand heavy and shock loads.

Andrew Minturn, Strategic Product Manager at Bosch Rexroth says: "Making sure your facility is kitted out with equipment which supports workers to do their job safely and efficiently is critical. Part of this involves making sure that employee workspaces are set up in the safest configuration, while also reducing superfluous movements where possible. Using a supplier that works to stringent regulations will help to mitigate the likelihood of accidents, which can often be caused by using cheaper and less robust alternatives."
