Amaechi Oduah is the new marketing and communications manager for Mitsubishi Electric Automation Systems Division. He has over a decade's experience in the telecommunications, electrical and electronic manufacturing sector and gained his education at the University of Greenwich. He explains that moving into automation was a strategic decision, as manufacturing is set to be one of the best growth sectors in the medium and long term.
"Growing up in London, there was an almost automatic assumption that a job in the City with a financial firm was the best career path. But that never appealed. I am above all a technophile and enjoy a keen enthusiasm for electronic gadgets and the latest and future technology trends. I want to be at the cutting edge of technology and that means being in the growth sectors and working for one of the market leaders like Mitsubishi Electric.
"The critical thing about automation is not what the individual products and technologies can do but how much more they can do when they are designed into a fully integrated system. So automation is about understanding the clients' issues and developing solutions that not only solve current problems but which will evolve to meet their changing needs and demands."
