IDS is launching a new model of NXT vegas app-based industrial camera with a colour sensor to complement the company's recently introduced NXT range. The new generation of app-based industrial cameras enables users to switch quickly between tasks and even install individual vision apps on their devices.
The colour sensor version of the IDS NXT vegas has a liquid lens with autofocus, a ToF (time-of-flight) sensor for distance measurement and integrated lighting, among many other features. Users benefit from the same advantages that the mono version offers - such as the possibility of PC-independent data processing using an integrated CPU or the robust, vibration-resistant housing with IP65 protection. For data exchange, the sensor is equipped with generic interfaces. The RS-232 interface can be configured according to individual requirements.
Users of the novel app-based industrial cameras benefit from almost unlimited flexibility: the freely programmable platform is not restricted to specific tasks. Instead, users can change and set up their preferred vision tasks in a very short time. The image processing engine then delivers either pre-processed data to a PC or even final results for independently made process decisions.
If an IDS NXT device is used to solve individual tasks that are not covered by standard vision apps, users can develop their own apps with the IDS Software Development Kit and install them on their device just like on a smartphone.
The possibility to install any vision apps offers universal possibilities in numerous fields of application. For example, in optical quality assurance, as an analytical instrument in medical technology, for monitoring tasks by facial recognition or vehicle and person counting.
