The AS-Interface Expert Alliance has confirmed the final line up for its Road Show conference being held at Old Trafford (Manchester United FC) Stadium on 22 May 2007. The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is to present an introductory paper for the afternoon session on Functional Safety, and three papers from end users will show how AS-Interface is being used in real-world applications such as mechanical handling and maintenance. Strongly featured this time will be the new V3 specification, for which first products are now appearing. 'Getting it right' will be a key theme, and various papers will describe how to avoid falling into common installation traps. The final paper of the day will take a humorous look at some horror stories and point out how to best avoid them. Full details of all these presentations and the very latest updates to the schedule are available from www.as-interface.com.
Featuring a full day of education, information and technical updates, ASi-tech is aimed at both existing and potential users of the AS-Interface networking technology that is optimised for low-level sensors and actuators. Applications for AS-Interface include machine automation, functional safety, process control and electrical distribution. AS-Interface is also useful for partnering higher-level fieldbuses such as Profibus, DeviceNet and Industrial Ethernet.
An introduction to the technology, with a 'hands-on the yellow cable' session, will enable people with no previous experience to learn the basics. Other papers will feature Functional Safety standards and practice, applications in the process industry, and integration of AS-interface with higher-level fieldbuses and Industrial Ethernet.
ASi-tech is aimed at engineers at all levels in production plants. The basic technology is easily accessible for all types of engineer, including mechanical and electrical persons. Systems designers, integrators and, of course, Functional Safety experts should also attend. Attendance is free, including lunch and refreshments. Registration is on-line at www.as-interface.com or by phoning the Alliance freephone number 0800 169 2331.
