Automotive supplier’s quest fulfilled

‘Must have’? Transport system with height-adjustable workbench

An automotive supplier required a transport system with a height-adjustable workbench that could be used to separate and test components. The workpieces were round, with various diameters, and were placed on the conveyor system by robots in twenty-second cycles.

They were to be buffered on the conveyor system, so that a worker at the connected workbench could manually retrieve individual workpieces. If the workpieces accumulated up to a certain position on the belt conveyor, the system needed to switch off automatically. For ergonomic reasons, the workbench required a height-adjustable design.

mk solution

The GUF-P 2000 belt conveyor with accumulating belt – from mk – proved to be the best solution for the components to be conveyed. The workpieces can accumulate on the belt conveyor, thanks to an integrated stop-and-separation function. The worker can then press a manual button to release them, as required, and then pull them onto the workbench.

An adjustable side rail is used to position the differently-sized workpieces on the belt conveyor. Photoelectric sensors stop the system once the components have accumulated to a certain position.

Workstation construction

The workstation was constructed from Series 40 profiles and equipped with a height-adjustable frame. A 12 mm steel plate is used as the work surface.

Since the conveyor system is attached to both the height-adjustable workstation and the fixed machine, the conveyor system was flexibly anchored at both ends.

Customer benefits:

Economical solution that meets the requirements

Flexible conveyor system for various workpieces

Height-adjustable workstation for optimum ergonomics.
