BARA publishes Machine Safety Conference programme

BARA has now published the programme for the first of the two Machine Safety Conferences that it is organising in 2008. These events are aimed at specifiers and designers of machinery and safety-related electrical control systems (SRECS), and managers and engineers responsible for machinery safety within their work environment. BARA publishes Machine Safety Conference programme

The conference programme has therefore been designed to cover existing and forthcoming standards, the practical application of the existing standards (through the use of case studies), and there will be opportunities for discussions with the presenters and exhibitors.

Highlights of the conference are as follows:

Philip Parry of the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) will discuss Functional Safety in Machinery and Industrial Automation: An update of Standards.

Paul Davies of Rockwell Automation will discuss Safety systems and robotics.

Seb Strutt of Sick (UK) Ltd will present A balanced view on safety networking technology, illustrated with case studies.

Paul Laidler of Laidler Associates will present a paper on Project management of a safety solution, featuring risk assessment, CE Marking and remedial work.

Steve Allen of Procter Machine Guarding will discuss A practical approach to guarding robot cells, with case studies.

Stewart Robinson of Pilz Automation Technology will discuss DaimlerChrysler's use of a 3D safety camera system for safety protection in robot cells.

Peter Cheetham of Sigmapi Systems Ltd will present a paper For Safety at Work - use Safety at Work.

Mike Golding of Fortress Interlocks will discuss Total Access and Control: A case study illustrating the convergence of interlock technology.

There will also be time after the conference for a guided tour of the Museum of Science & Industry, Manchester, where the event is being held on 17 June 2008.

A second conference will take place at Bletchley Park in the Midlands on 30 September 2008.
