Bernstein shows machine safety at Northern Manufacturing

Bernstein Ltd will be showcasing its range of switches, sensors and enclosures specifically designed for use in machine building applications on stand B91 at Northern Manufacturing & Electronics 2013. The focal point of Bernstein's stand will be an interactive demonstration of the company's latest safety monitoring sensor - the CSMS.

Bernstein describes the CSMS as the most versatile contactless safety monitoring sensor on the market today. It uses RFID technology to ensure that safety doors and protective guards remain closed and its excellent diagnostics enable open safety guards and system errors to be quickly located and rectified - ensuring the operative's safety, whilst minimising production down-time.

The CSMS's potential will be demonstrated with an engaging interactive display featuring a robot in a cage which has safety doors. The robot will be moving until the safety doors open - triggering an immediate shut-down. The CSMS sensors are flexible, working on both sliding and hinged doors in various configurations. Bernstein's robotic display will also include a safety light curtain across the top of cage which activates total shut-down when broken. This technology is imperative in machine building applications where safety is paramount.

Bernstein exhibited at the Southern Manufacturing show earlier this year, with great success as Managing Director, Robert Emms, testifies: "Exhibiting at this type of event is an excellent way of meeting key product specifiers from OEMs. It provides an opportunity for us to introduce our safety solutions and demonstrate how Bernstein could help make their machines safer.

"We were visited by a steady stream of visitors throughout the two-day show in February and were pleased with both the calibre of show visitors and the quality of the enquiries we received following Southern Manufacturing. We're hoping the Northern show will be equally successful."

Bernstein will also be showcasing its range of limit switches at the show, with particular reference to applications where their use protects both people and products in machine, equipment and plant construction.

Emms continues: "Detection, control and protection are at the heart of everything Bernstein does. We offer a complete range of safety products, backed up by our One Stop Solutions service for contract manufacturing & assembly. To save our customers time & money, Bernstein can supply pre-wired products, customised & bespoke enclosures and ready to install assemblies, designed for purpose."
