BFPA seminar: Getting ready for GDPR
The new GDPR rules come into force on 25 May 2018. If you have yet to establish a cost-effective and practical way of meeting your legal obligations under these new rules, you are certainly not alone. However, if you do not prepare for GDPR, you will be in breach of the law - and the Information Commissioner's Office has said it is expecting companies to comply. Non-compliance can result in significant fines.
In response to requests from members and non-members, many of which are SMEs, the BFPA is running a low-cost, straight-talking, one-day seminar on how companies can comply with the regulations with the minimum of effort and disruption to their businesses. This is not going to be about winning awards for over-interpretation of the regulations, but it will be about what you have to do as a bare minimum to stay on the right side of the law. No scaremongering, just clear, sound advice and practical, 'plain English' instructions. The BFPA has invited experts to speak, who should give more down-to-earth guidance than many of the lawyers and IT companies who are currently offering to help companies comply with the new GDPR rules.
The BFPA seminar takes place on 8 March 2018 in Birmingham, courtesy of BFPA Member Hydraforce UK. The event runs from 10:00 to 15:45 and lunch is included.
