Bosch Rexroth participation in London-Brighton bike ride

Employees from Bosch Rexroth took part in a charity bike ride from London to Brighton on Sunday 17 June 2007 and raised £2500 for the British Heart Foundation.

The ride involved around 27,000 cyclists, raising over £3million collectively. Bosch Rexroth's contingent was made up of a strong team of eleven from across the company. Marketing personnel, sales engineers, managers, and PAs all took to the streets of Britain to promote awareness for heart disease and to reach their target of £2500. John Doran, National Product Specialist from Ireland, drove over 1850 miles in order to take part in the bike ride. Also taking part was Stuart Williams, Automotive Manager for Electric Drives and Controls, who is a passionate cyclist who has recently undertaken a three-week journey cycling from Lhasa to Kathmandu for another charity organisation.

Looking smart in Rexroth bike shirts, the team set off without delay; the pleasant day served as perfect cycling weather, with barbecues and free water enjoyed along the journey of 56 miles.

The route covered some hard ground, including Ditchling Beacon Hill at the end of the course, which is the third highest point on the South Downs, at over 200m. Despite being stuck in cycle lanes and having to weave in and out of the busy traffic, most of the team arrived at the finish line at 2:30pm, Stuart Williams arriving earlier at 1pm. Daniela Schulz, Marketing Executive, said: "There were hundreds of people cheering and clapping, which made us all so proud of ourselves."

Daniela said of the experience: "Despite having aching muscles at work on Monday morning, a lot of fun was had by all. This was the second time Bosch Rexroth has taken part in the event and I look forward to doing it again next year."
