BS EN 50525-1:2011, low-voltage electric cables
BSI has published BS EN 50525-1:2011, Electric cables. Low voltage energy cables of rated voltages up to and including 450/750 V, which is the British Standard equivalent of EN 50525-1:2011. BS EN 50525-1:2011 was published on 30 September 2011 and replaces numerous British Standards (BS 638-4:1996, BS 7211:1998, BS 6004:2000, BS 6007:2006, BS 6500:2000 and BS 7919:2001, though BS 638-4:1996, BS 6007:2006, BS 6500:2000 and BS 7919:2001 remain current, and the new standard only partially replaces BS 6004:2000 and BS 7211:1998).
BS EN 50525 comprises 19 parts, representing a major restructuring of low-voltage electric cable standards. This series replaces HD 21 and 22 older style 'Harmonised Documents' and fully or partially replaces the well established British Standards listed above.
