BSI has published BS EN 60204-1:2018, Safety of machinery. Electrical equipment of machines. General requirements, which is the UK equivalent of the international standard IEC 60204-1:2016. As stated in the new edition, BS EN 60204-1:2018 supersedes BS EN 60204-1:2006+A1:2009, which is withdrawn.
EN 60204-1 is one of the key machinery safety standards, being a B-type Harmonised standard for the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. It applies to electrical, electronic and programmable electronic equipment and systems within non-portable machines designed to operate in conjunction with other machinery.
Machine builders, component manufacturers, end users and maintenance engineers will all need the latest edition of EN 60204-1 in order to remain at the forefront of electrical machinery safety.
