By gum: aluminium profiles help preserve our teeth

A toothbrush manufacturer has brushed up on its manufacturing processes and used mk Profile Systems to create a protective guard for its packaging area

With the toothbrushes already wrapped up in their primary packaging, there were no hygiene requirements to be concerned about at the factory, but the manufacturer needed a protective guard located in what is described as a typical cleanroom environment.

The guard, which was constructed entirely from the mk 40 series profiles, was bespoke manufactured to the specifications of the customer. The profiles were anodised, with cut edges blank and closed with sealing caps. The profile slots are closed with sealing strips and an mk ZRF-P timing belt conveyor was also incorporated into the protective guard. For this application, it was deemed crucial to ensure that the enclosure allowed easy access to the interior to allow for maintenance work: this was achieved by incorporating two maintenance doors (also made with the 40 series profile), together with a locking mechanism for the doors which was provided by the customer. The panelling was made from powder-coated and Makrolon sheets as per the customer’s requirements, and the finished enclosure is mounted on levelling feet to compensate for any uneven flooring.

mk says it provided its customer with a perfectly tailored solution to its guarding requirements which also featured integrated conveyor technology, all from a single source.
